Several years ago an English journalist decided to do research on a project that was designed to see if Christians made a difference in their communities. The journalist knew that Christians believe that the more Born Again Christians there are in a community the more that community will be affected for good—the greater the Christian presence the greater the benefit to the society at large. Right? His results were astounding. He went to the most churched community in the world—Dallas, TX (more people per capita attend church in Dallas than any other city in the world). The journalists looked at the various statistics and studies including crime, safety on the streets, police enforcement, and the justice and penal system. He looked at health care, hospitals, emergency care, contagious diseases, infant mortality rate and the distribution of caregivers. He reviewed housing, and the general economics were also evaluated. Each was scrutinized using racial and economic factors. To his astonishment, there was no difference!!
In our Christian world, we are led to believe that if we just get enough people born again, then the world will be a better place. It would be wonderful if that were true, but it’s not. Getting people born again and not challenging them, as well as those who are already Believers, to become agents of change in their homes and communities is paramount to getting them “miserably saved.” They know just enough of God to be miserable in their sin. In order to impact a nation we must have people who are not only believers in Jesus but who follow His example in living.
Not too long ago, I was having lunch with a friend and we were talking about the Sermon on the Mount and the commands of Jesus to love our enemies, do good to those who despitefully use us, turn the other cheek, etc. We looked at each other and laughed because we realized how short we fell from fulfilling those commands. But if we want to change the world, it will start with each of us obeying Jesus to the very core of who He was and living out His commands—even the Sermon on the Mount.
One other thing we must do, is stop looking for the rapture to allow us to escape the world and began influence the world around us. It’s easy to look at our government, the media, the educational system, the family, the business world and the arts and see that they are all broken and in desperate need of repair. God is waiting on us to do something about these mountains—not our neighbor or the government but us.
We are to establish His Kingdom on the earth. In establishing the Kingdom of God we deal not only with salvation but also the reconciliation of all things and that means ALL things. The world will not get better until we make it better by following Jesus—even the very difficult commands He gave when he sat on the mountainside and delivered the greatest sermon ever spoken—the Sermon on the Mount.

Teach the Children works with children at risk with the express purpose of implementing programs that will enhance the quality of life for these children.

By providing humanitarian aid, medical assistance, educational opportunities, as well as social, spiritual and economic programs for children and their families.

Teach the Children International exists to:

To bring awareness to ministries, governments and secular organizations the plight of those who cannot speak up for themselves and who have no advocate in their plight for justice and religious freedom and thereby give those organizations an opportunity to implement programs for the good of the people.

To create on-site programs where a variety of organizations (secular and religious) can network for implementation in their efforts to reach out to those in need. Thereby creating a synergy for problem solving and development of programs that will build networks and relationships.

To share opportunities and contacts with others and enable them to accomplish more than any one organization could do alone.

To work closely with those in governmental leadership to provide programs for children and their families that are on their heart. This will build good-will and better relationships between leaders and nations.

To work in full compliance with governments and still maintain integrity and identity as as personal followers of Jesus.

Teach the Children is dedicated to enriching the lives of children throughout the world through education, humanitarian aid, medical programs and prayer.

We believe that every child his a gift from God and has a right to a full and happy life with opportunities that will train that child to be compassionate and love. Every child should experience the love of God in an profound way that will enable him/her to impact the world for good.

Since 2005, Teach the Children has worked with Morocco to assist the Sahrawi who are returning to their homeland. Thousands of Sahrawis who have lived in the Tindouf, Algeria camps over the past 37 years are returning to Southern Morocco and are in need of assistance to make theirresettlement as seamlessly as possible. For years, the region has been unsettled because of the political situation, help is needed. The world needs to know, not only what has kept this people group from returning home, but also how to assist them in their struggles to exist in a civil society.

Networking

Teach the Children networks with a number of humanitarian aid organizations who have resources and who are willing to assist the Sahrawis living in Southern Morocco. These organizations are willing to help the Sahrawis in any way possible to alleviate the severe needs that exist as the Sahrawis return to their homeland.

In February 2009, Nancy met with the Moroccan Ambassador Aziz Mekouar and the CEO of Buckner International, Dr. Ken Hall, as well as with Jerry and Denise Dillon to discuss possible programs that Buckner could bring to assist the people of Morocco.
